Povoa de Varzim (sometimes unduly named of “Póvoa “do” Varzim) is a portuguese city of OPorto’s district, North Region and sub-region of Grand Oporto. It´s localized in a coaster sandy plain, wich encloses Saint’s André Cape, half way between Minho and Douro’s river. The seas has always had primacy in its economy and subsistence, originally through maritime trade and after with fishing. Thanks to its extensive beach , it became one of the principal turistic areas of the region, mostly beach tourism. Póvoa de Varzim is still one of the few areas of authorized gambling in Portugal, and has an significative industrie of textil and alimentation.
